THE SERUM
Fetal bovine serum (FBS) is a unique product of great importance in science, especially in the fields of medicine and biotechnology. SFB is a by-product derived from the amenation of pregnant cows.
Serum is the liquid fraction of clotted blood, without cells, fibrin, or coagulation factors, but containing a large number of macromolecular and nutritional factors essential for cell growth.
Bovine serum albumin is the most abundant component of fetal bovine serum.
APLICATIONS
Culture media usually contain SFB (or other types of animal sera), and the product is used in various fields of application, such as:
• Cancer research.
• Toxicology.
• Diagnosis.
• Vaccine production.
• Stem (stem) cell research.
• Protein production.
• Interferon.
• Monoclonal antibodies.
• Human coagulation factor VIII, etc.
